Heating Efficiency - SCOP Ratings
The heating efficiency of an air conditioning heat pump system is determined by the
“Seasonal Coefficient of Performance” or SCOP rating, which is normally recorded within a
systems specifications details.
A system with a relatively low SCOP rating of 4.0 will still produce 4kw of useable heat
energy for every 1kWh of electricity it uses, whereas a more efficient system, with a SCOP
rating of 5.1, will produce 5.1kw of heat energy.
When choosing an air conditioner for your home, it is worth remembering that the higher
the SCOP rating, the lower your running costs will be.
